The Ugly Lamp Project

 {The Ugly Duckling Lamp Project}
One of our favorite activities is Thrifting.
Thrifting is about {FINDING!}
{Finding} something...
no one else sees.
{Altering} it...
So everyone can see what was always there.
***
Being an art teacher, I've acquired the ability to {find} the best...
 in every student...
every day.
I help them {find} it in themselves...
 & share it through their art.
 ***
I also have this ability with random junk.
What looks like an ugly duckling chair...
or LAMP...
gets turned into a SWAN!
{Inspiration}
The lamp will be a creamy white with a shade Similar to this lamp sold for $515.

Lamp purchased for $3 at WCA(Western Community Action) Thrift Store, Redwood Falls, MN
 {The Before}
Why we like this lamp.
This lamp is very tall...
Tall, large, lamps are great choice for any room...
Because they have strong visual weight creating...
{a focal point}
The height of this lamp brings your eye closer to the height most pictures are hung...
Creating a sense of UNITY for arrangements and decor
The elongated neck raises the shade to a great height to elevate the light bulb...
 Casting great light around any room!
Great decorating needs great lighting
The FORM is interesting, sculptural & has great texture...
Looks like pottery art, and reminds us a little bit of, I Dream of Genie.
{Priming}
{HOW TO}
We always recommend painting a primer on a surface first, especially if the surface is non-porous...
This lamp is a pottery piece that has been glazed & We are unsure of the types of paint we will use so it is getting primed.
Primer was applied using a brush to make sure all the textural areas were covered evenly.
  {Now all this SWAN needs is a drum shade!}

{FIND} something...
no one else sees the best of...
{ALTER} it...
{RePURPOSE} it...
{MAKE} it better.
