Leo's Baseball Bedroom {Final Reveal}

We have blogged bits and pieces of Leo's room as we have completed various projects.
We are finally ready to consider it finished.
{for now}
To the left you will see what Leo's room looked like before. (Kind of a blank canvas.)
Leo loves his
Minnesota Twins
inspired {vintage} baseball themed bedroom and so do we.

***
We painted the room last August. We used three colors.  A carmel color (left over from when we painted Leo's room in our old house) for the top of the walls, a dark blue color of the twins logos for the bottom of the walls, and the light blue color of the vintage uniforms the twins use to wear in the closet.  We added a chair rail for some architectural interest and new millwork & doors.  We also carpeted the bedrooms in a very neutral frieze dark beige color.
The new paint we used was Better Homes & Gardens (it covered okay but was a thinner paint and the artist wouldn't recommend it for dark color paint). The colors were Blue Admiral, and Steel Blue.
Around the room you will find vintage and new baseball themed items.
The colors of the accessories are the colors you would see attending a game.  The green of the grass, the carmely color of the diamond, the red & blue of the Twin's logo and bright white for contrast.
Now it looks very "Twinsy" to us!
And if you look in Leo's closet below you'll see a throwback glance of the color the Twins used to wear, "back when mom & dad were kids".
And here's a throwback to how the closet "USED" to look before we moved in.
It is amazing to us what trim, color, and design can do to a space!
WOW, what a difference!

Leo's furniture used to look like this...
Until we painted it using Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint Emperor's Silk {red}.  We used Annie's Clear Wax to finish this piece.  You can read more about the painting process at the link below.
We also removed the hardware of this dresser and went with some great Martha Stewart handles from the Home Depot.  We removed the center door of the dresser and added an authentic vintage gym locker basket filled with baseballs of course.
You can read about our handles in this blog post: The Perfect Drawer Pulls.
In this corner we have A {vintage} catchers mask, Leo's Snow board, and a a {vintage} catcher's mitt. The lamp was a bargain find from Target quite some time ago.

We love the furniture so much!
On the mirror we have one of Jamie's original homer hankies, from when she was a kid and  on the windows are homer hankies provide by Leo's other mother, and created with love by Mom & Grandma Thorston.
We simply tacked the hankies to a baseball themed ribbon using little a little red x, you can read about the whole process using the following link to our blog post : It'[s Spring and We're Thinking Baseball {Inspired Curtains} Link
On the window sills sit some of Leo's arts & crafts that he has created...A Twins Rock sign using yarn and burlap and an awesome little dude sculpture.  We love that he enjoys being creative.

Next to Leo's bed is a great canvas print we picked up at Target of the Opening Day at Target Field.  The colors of the print fit so perfectly in this room bringing the whole theme together.
We used bedding we already had for Leo's room & picked up some thrifted fabric to create two navy pillows for accents on Leo's bed.  We like the contrast the lighter blue/carmel stripped bedding has with the walls.  They are lighter intensities of the wall color.
Below is the entrance to Leo's room from the hallway before & after remodel.

~~~ Now onto the girls room~~~
Thanks for checking out Leo's {Baseball Inspired} Bedroom!
I love the colors. I'm planning a vintage baseball theme for my son. I really love the chair rail. How high up did you put it?
Thanks!
